On top of being a copywriter and creative director for hire, I’m also an apple farmer and cider maker. In late 2020, my wife and I sold our house in LA and bought an 800-tree apple orchard and hard cider company just outside Yosemite National Park. We did a full rebrand of the company and we’ve been growing the business with a new tasting room, themed events, and some pretty fun social content if you ask me. You can order some of our cider (or book a tour if you’re in the area!) at SierraCider.com. Check out more of our videos on Instagram: @sierra_cider
With Audible’s organic social content, we’re celebrating a shared love of literature and listening. And since they have like every book ever written, it’s a pretty fun sandbox to play in.
For Future Man’s sophomore season, we tapped cast member and former dead-people-seer Haley Joel Osment for a series of social videos that gave our audience a much-need primer on the completely bonkers alternate future our heroes wound up in at the end of Season 1.
We then rounded up our trio of heroes to create a video-glossary of some futuristic lingo the audience would need heading into the new season.
For Valentines Day, we realized that walking around a Walmart is kinda the perfect place to get to know someone on a first date. So we made a dating show.
For Chistmas 2018, we gave Santa his very own talk show on Facebook Watch to highlight some of Walmart's hottest holiday gift items.
For Hulu's original Sci-Fi Comedy Future Man, we created a promo reimagining the show as a 1980's animated series. I wrote the song, and that's me singing it!
The show borrows heavily from classic 80's time travel movies, so we tested the cast member's and executive producer Seth Rogen's memory of those films with a series of tongue-in-cheek trivia questions.
One of the first projects I ever worked on for Hulu was celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek.
Years of rewatching TNG episodes over and over made me notice one of Captain Picard's subtle language quirks, resulting in a video that garnered over 1.3 million organic views without a single media dollar supporting it.
To celebrate all 50 years of the franchise, I poured through transcripts of almost every single episode of every Star Trek series (not including The Animated Series) to track down every main character counting up through the years in chronological order. It took a really, really long time but it was worth it.
Toyota made a Super Bowl spot featuring the Muppets. Our job was to build off that story and make it into a social experience on game day.
We sent the Muppets in the Toyota Highlander to live-tweet the game. But tons of brands were planning on doing that. So how could we break through the clutter? By flipping the script, and asking the fans to provide the Muppets with updates on the game.
First, they hit the road.
Then, they hit some traffic.
They totally missed their big game spot airing because they were still stuck in the car.
And then the game ended and there was a TWIST ENDING.
After Hulu went through their rebrand, we set out to create recurring social video series featuring the new look and feel.
Each content series had the goal of adding to the fan conversation around TV and movies, whether by pointing out Easter Eggs and subtle details, asking talent some unexpected questions, or just talking about how much we love a particular title.
Each of these videos represents one installment in a larger ongoing content series.
We were tasked with showcasing the versatility of Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
We started by sending six creative students to some of the most photogenic locations in the world to put the tools to good use.
We ended with an immersive art installation on Earth Day, featuring the work those students made on their journeys.
Oreo was ready to relaunch their line of Mini cookies after improving their packaging and the overall structural integrity of the tiniest model in their line.
We celebrated the little things we love about the people in our lives, by letting people send an Oreo Mini in a tiny parcel through the mail.
We made 500 Mini Parcels available for delivery (for FREE!) every day starting at noon for two weeks. They sold out within seconds every day.
Each Mini Parcel included one Oreo Mini, and a short note from the person who sent it.
I sometimes moonlight as a Private Investigative Journalist, which is a title that I made up.
That’s a picture of me from a Gonzo article I wrote for VICE's Noisey Music. You can find all of my Noisey articles here.
I write about movies and nerdy stuff over at WhatCulture. You can find those articles here.
I've also had humor pieces published on Thought Catalog and McSweeney's Internet Tendency.
Visa partnered with Taco Bell, offering people half-off their orders when they paid with Visa Checkout.
We wanted to make the the word "Half" trigger consumer's memory of the deal, no matter the situation.
J&J asked us to bridge the gap between two generations of Star Wars fans with Star Wars Band-Aids
The solution was to encourage them to play. Always.
We went to Star Wars Celebration, encouraging fans to play by sticking lightsaber Band-Aids on their thumbs, and having them battle it out in our Thumbsaber Arena for Limited Edition Star Wars Band Aid tins. I MC'ed the event. Watch the video and you'll see me in there!
We followed up the event with a video series starring a dad and his son, reimagining iconic scenes between Luke Skywalker and Yoda.
I wrote this Star Wars version of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, just for fun. Then with the help of some popular YouTubers, we shot this music video just in time for the release Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The task was clear, but far from simple: Get teenagers to stop texting and driving.
We realized that they don't need another lecture about how dangerous it is. They know how dangerous it is. What they need is a quick way to pause the conversation. It won a Webby Award for Social Responsibility.
After years of the Baby talking to consumers from his nursery, it was time to get him out of the crib.
My sister was getting married at the time so I was thinking about weddings a lot.
